We are ending on a high note with Stateless, a documentary by Michele Stephenson that follows families of those affected by the 2013 legislation stripping citizenship from Dominicans of Haitian descent, uncovering the complex history and present-day politics of Haiti and the Dominican Republic through the grassroots electoral campaign of a young attorney named Rosa Iris.

After the screening, stay for a discussion on how the film sheds light on what is at stake in the fight over birthright citizenship, neocolonialism and anti-black racism, and translocal politics. We will have a stellar line up of discussants: filmmaker Michele Stephenson, Dominican historian Saudi Garcia and a surprise guest.

The Undocumented Women's Fund is an immigrant-led and volunteer-run organization that depends on the strength of our community to maintain operations. All funds will go towards continuing our work as community care and organizing network building collective power among and address the needs of Spanish speaking immigrant women and gender expansive people. As a self funded initiative, donations are what makes it possible for us to continue offering this community building and popular education programming!
