Black History Month is a time to recognize, reflect on, and celebrate the profound contributions of Black communities to health care. Long before equity and inclusion became part of our professional vocabulary, Black clinicians, caregivers, scholars, and institutions were building models of care rooted in dignity, community, and innovation.
This program honors that legacy not only by looking back, but by uplifting the people, ideas, and leadership that continue to shape the future of health care. Black history in health care is a story of excellence, creativity, collaboration, and lasting impact, and we celebrate it as a vital part of our shared professional heritage.
By engaging with archival materials and contemporary scholarship, we invite our community to explore how Black leadership has influenced clinical practice, public health, education, and community-based care, and how those contributions continue to inform and inspire the work we do today.
